Collector Care 103: Display & Storage Tips for Long-Term Preservation
Hey there!
We’ve talked about cleaning and maintenance — now let’s go over some tips for displaying and storing your models safely and beautifully.
-
Use display cases.
Acrylic or glass cases keep dust and moisture out while showing off your collection clearly. -
Mind the lighting.
Avoid direct sunlight — UV rays can fade colors and materials. LED lights are safer and create a great showcase glow. 💡 -
Control humidity.
Too much moisture can damage delicate materials. Use silica gel packs or a dehumidifier if your area gets humid. -
Stable surfaces only!
Make sure shelves are sturdy and level. Even small vibrations can cause long-term balance issues or leaning. -
Avoid overcrowding.
Give each figure or doll enough breathing room — it prevents accidental scuffs and makes the display look cleaner. -
Rotate your display.
Swap which pieces are on display every few months to evenly preserve materials and joints. -
Label your collection.
If you’re a serious collector, small nameplates or tags add a museum-style touch while helping track display rotation.
Show off your setup!
